Quick overview, I had a no spark issue and narrowed it down to a bad stator. I replaced it and the problem was solved, I bolted everything back up and took it for a spin around the block to check the timing. It ran good but when I pulled back in the driveway it died and would not refire. I checked to see if the stator still had a good signal and it did. I then replaced the coil, plug, and wire. I am at a loss here, this is a non-cdi ignition. Please someone help.

What do you mean a NON-CDI ignition? Is this a 2 stroke with points in the stator ? what model and year is the scooter and the motor number that is in there.

I just looked it up and according to the specs it has a CDI.

Well all the info I have is from a site that I used to be a member of, scooterforumonline.com. Anyway the name on the scooter is actually Sunway and it is stamped as a 139QMB, however it is a 2t and trying to remember what I was told before I believe it is actually a d1e40qmb (they told me that from the location of the injector pump)

Well if its a 139qmb that is a 4 stroke. But to make sure look by the Side stand on the motor case itself and it will have the motor stamped on it. We have to make sure what motor it has on it.

It is positively a D1E41QMB 2t with the chain drive, not sure why it was stamped otherwise. Iam still learning about scoots but I am very knowledgeable about mechanics, this is a non cdi ignition. I replaced the stator and coil with oem replacements. When I replaced the stator it fired off immediately and ran good for test ride around the block, the original coil tested weak but inside specs. I decided to purchase a new one just so the Iignition system would be new. One thing I do not know is how ignition is broken from the key as there is no kill switch on this model. I will post somepics for further reference Iin a bit.

Cool, so it is a 2 STROKE with a chain drive, and it has a TCI COIL instead of a CDI.

So it may be the problem is with your IGNITION key.

On a TCI power is sent to the coil then the TCI receives a pulse from the stator which grounds the coil thru a transistor creating a spark.

This is the coil that is on my scoot, as you can see it only has one connector. Iam not understanding how it can receive 12V and a pulse signal from the stator. Also what would be the easiest way to circumvent the ignition to test your theory...a 12V jumper possibly?

Just put a multi meter on that wire and see if it is getting 12volts when you turn on the key, If not put a 12 volts to it and see if it fires up.

Okay sounds ike a plan, its funny because I had narrowed it down to something in the ignition through my own limited knowledge. With your expertise now I think I fully undrstand how it works.

I think that is the problem it is loosing the battery 12v from the ignition either that or the battery is low. But easy enough to find out put 12v to that wire and see if it fires up.

Okay I put a meter on the bl/w wire at the coil with the switch on and jumper cables hooked up and did not have 12v. I did however have a solid ground when I did a continuity test. Tried disconnecting the bl/w wire and apllying 12v but it would not try to fire. What next my fearless leader?

Please note the pic above...there is only one wire connection aside from the plug wire, the coil grounds directly to the frame.

Yes and as you can see on the GIF I put up, the stator actually grounds the COIL completing the circuit and when it does it fires. So you applied 12v to the white thin wire on the COIL and nothing? Do you have a Ground wire from the motor to the frame? And a Ground wire from the Neg Battery Post to the Frame?

Okay I just wanted to make sure I was unsderstanding the gif correctly, yes I put 12v to the coil but had the bl/w wire disconnected when doing so with no results. There is a direct frame ground and a green ground wire that goes to the negative post of the battetry.

What does that wire with the white connector connect to that is on the COIL and where does that wire go to?
