My scooter has been running fine ,than two days ago im going to work . it starts out fine but as soon as i get to a hill i loose all power and speed and it starts sputtering. its never done this usually i loose a little speed ,it is a 49 cc after all. but now as long as im going semi flat or down hill its fine but as soon as i start up an incline boom no power and the sputtering starts . what could cause this .

maybe its you roller weights mine sorta did the same thing when the weights had flat spots on them lm sure others will help you find the problem as l have been helped heaps at this site

Yes, check your weights and belt they may be worn. Going up a hill puts a lot of strain on a motor and bogs it down if the weights hang up and not drop down to a lower ration in the Variator.

i dont think its the rollers they are only 2 months old and i cant see how they could go out over night . i mean literally one day running fine get home park get up the next day go to work hit the first incline and bam power drops and i sputter up the hill at 15 miles an hour got to the top and speed picks up like nothing is wrong get to the next incline and go from 40 to 20 within 10 feet sputtering like im out of gas never getting above 15 till i get to the top then it runs fine again

checked the rollers they are still round but changed them out anyway still the same

Ok, so if you say your rollers and belt are ok then check your fuel delivery.

If you have a GRAVITY FED fuel system meaning the gas tank is ABOVE the CARB make sure the FUEL HOSE FROM the gas tank to the CARB IS ALL GOING DOWN HILL NO UPS AND DOWNS.
NO part of the FUEL hose should be LOWER than the FUEL INLET to the CARB.

Also adjust your FUEL RATIO MIXTURE to get the HIGHEST IDLE out of it on the CENTERSTAND.

Warm it up and then only TURN it 1/4 at a time from where it is currently set.

1. Turn it First CLOCKWISE 1/4 turn and and wait 10seconds or so and listen, If the IDLE GOES UP REPEAT #1.
A. If on the last 1/4 it did nothing or IDLE dropped turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE 1/8(DONE).

IF ON THE FIRST CLOCKWISE 1/4 TURN IT DID NOTHING OR IDLE WENT DOWN GO COUNTER CLOCKWISE as in #1.
A. If on the last 1/4 it did nothing or IDLE DROPPED turn it CLOCKWISE 1/8(DONE).

How's it going bud did the IDLE rise when adjusting the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE which will give the motor the right amount of fuel to air ratio and produce more power.

And or how is it acting now?

did you get gas just before this started if so drain the gas and get fresh sounds like you may have gotten water in the tank

well this is what i found as i had my scoot on the center stand and was letting it warm up as long as the front wheel was down it idled ok but when the front wheel was up it would eventually die.i pulled the fuel line front wheel down gas flowed wheel up gas slowly choked off to a trickle. i came to the conclusion that there is crap in my gas tank and when i go up a hill depending on the incline it chokes of the gas the steeper the incline the quicker the choking im off work monday and tuesday ive got a ride today so monday im going to pull my tank and see. if that is the case how do i get the carb back to zero to re tune it once the crap is cleaned out is it counter clockwise till stop then two and a half back or the other way around .

Nice going, good diagnose my man,

Turn the Fuel Ratio Screw CLOCKWISE UNTIL IT STOPS, then turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE 2 1/2 turns that is a good starting point.
Start it up let it warm up then FINE TUNE it to GET THE HIGHEST IDLE OUT of that mixture.

well there is crap in the gas a little dirt or rust and what appears to be the remains of a bee or yellow jacket as i look inside the tank i see no rust so i am assuming which i hate to do that it came from the gas station now to put it all back together and see if it runs

ok got it back together started it which took a little doing let it run for 10 min now i started at 2 and 1/2 turns went 1/4 turn counter clockwise it died turned back started it again went 1/4 clockwise rpms went up another 1/4 turn clockwise rpms went up each time turning clockwise rpms go up til stop wondering why

That is good that the RPMS went up that is what you want to happen.

BUT What do you mean TIL STOP?
1. Was the Screw all the way CLOSED?
2. Or on the last turn it killed the motor?
