JR certainly has some good ideas and a great understanding of this particular circuit. If the regulator rectifier is not working, then there will be no lights. The low DC reading on the yellow wire would make me think it's originating at the R/R and hopefully the problem is just in the connector at the output of the R/R or at the input from the stator. These connectors are prone to overheating which will mess up the charging circuit.

Ok stupid question.... What's R/R? And the battery is charging just fine. Even though it's a new battery I did double check

Nevermind it's regulator rectifier. So where is that located exactly?

It's located right above the muffler behind the plastic fender. Here's a picture:

Ahh that's what I thought. So how do I tell if that is the source of the problem or not?

Just checked the voltage of the yellow wire again and it's getting nothing at all. The other fuses are getting a solid 12.5V.

You have to check the Voltage of the Yellow wires with the Scooter Running. You should get over 60 volts between each set of yellow wires. The Yellow wires come from the Stator in the motor. Once you find out that the Stator is putting out enough voltage then check the other side for your voltages.

By chance did you do a good PDI when you got the scooter?

I had an issue with mine my scooter would shut off when I turned left. come to find out the wire harness was zipped tied tight against the steering column bearing housing with a very sharp edge that ended up cutting the insulation on the wires causing a short and killing the scooter

Just found the problem. The brown wire leading to the R/R connector had unseated. Pushed it back in with some needle nose and the lights came right back on. Finally. I appreciate all the input. Wouldn't have found the problem without all your help

Awesome! Now I would go through all the connections on every plug while I had it stripped. Check them for good continuity and you can go to the tech section and look at the PDI for ideas to improve the scooter so when you put the skin back on you can ride, ride ride!

It's threads like these that not only help a member fix their scooter but allow others to see problems that may be very similar and learn from this experience.

One more question. What does R & R mean? I see a picture of several items and some cables but that still did not tell me what R & R is by name. I am sure it does not mean rock and roll but not sure what else it may be.

I followed this thread and am happy it ended well. Some more things to look at when I do my tear down this summer.

R/R means regulator/rectifier. Some folks use just regulator when they describe it but it does have two functions, it rectifies AC to DC and then regulates the ouput DC voltage thus the R/R for short.

It's the larger aluminum box in Cruiser's picture and right to the left of it is the blocking diode.
