hi everyone I'm new on here ;D as I'm semi retired i love messing about with motorbikes and scooters in my spare time so Ive brought myself a couple of cheap scooters to fix up in my spare time Ive brought a 2000 Suzuki kaytana l/c and a 2002 malaguti phantom f12 the ay50 is the one I'm having trouble with  it seems that the person i brought it off robbed some bits off it  Ive tried to get it running by squirting fresh fuel into the carb but no joy so i took the spark plug out and there is plenty of compression but no spark  on checking for missing parts i found a connector under the front panel with 5 terminals on it with nothing attached to it could this missing part cause the lack of spark any help would be ace thanks ken |

Ken,
The best thing to do is FOLLOW where some of the wires from that connector go to. That will enlighten someone to every say what it is for. I could be for the Regulator/Rectifier or CDI or just to power accessories.

well to find the CDI trace the wires on the coil they should go to your cdi , if it is a cdi ignition . what year scooter is it ?

Very nice looking scoot, but not to many people will have one of those. But since it is a suzuki there are plenty of dealers around that probably have the wireing diagram for it.
But maybe googleing for it may pop a diagram up. I will try to see if anything is around on the net.

Welcome kensacona and both scooters are nice. On the Malaguti we have the service manual for it the F12 and it's also a nice scooter! thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ncmanuals&action=display&thread=389Now on this little suzuki of yours finding stuff on it is tough! Suzuki is stingy with manuals and wiring diagrams but I do have at least some help. I have a parts manual that has a wiring diagrm on this scooter but the problem is it's in Dutch! But it does give some pictured details of some of the electrical parts and I'll download it right off my server Now what you may have to do is strip this scooter down and take some more pictures and let us see the wiring and parts so we can see what you have an don't have and in the mean time I'll see if i can figure out the wiring diagram components and help. Also if you don't mind me asking how did this engine get so dirty looking? Looks like it's been a long dirt road! LOL JR |

hi jr thanks for your advice and the wiring diagram on the parts download i have saved it to my laptop and after a morning studying the wiring diagram i appears that the missing part is the voltage regulator (after decoding the dutch) lol after reading some other posts on different forums it appears that the regulator is part of the ignition circut hence why there is no spark there is someone breaking a ay50 about 15 miles from me so i'm gonna give them a buzz and see if they have got a regulator in answer to your question how did the engine bay get so dirty the lad i brought the scooter off told me some theiving little gits stole it and had been riding it off road before nicking some bits off it before the police recovered it  Uploaded with ImageShack.ushere is a photo of the wires going into the plug top wire white with blue trace 2nd wire yellow 3rd wire red 4th wire black and white bottom wire yellow and white |
